Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Automation

The SDET Automation training program is designed to train IT professionals from the ground up with or without a prior IT background. This program combines the software quality assurance practices and software development expertise to create tailored solutions for the software testing automation needs of the modern tech industry.

This program will be conducted over the course of 6 months and will include four phases.

Phase I: Fundamentals of Quality Assurance

During the first phase students will learn about the software development lifecycle, key technical terms and concepts used in typical agile development environments. Topics covered include:

  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Agile practices and methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

  • Manual testing

Phase II: Scripting & Programming

In the second phase students learn basic Java programming concepts. Also taught is SQL to prepare for database-driven test automation. Topics covered include:

  • Basics of SQL

  • Basics of Java

  • Object Oriented Programming Concepts

Phase III: Automation Frameworks

During the third phase, students are familiarized with the software development toolkits and frameworks necessary for test automation. This phase includes deep dives into Selenium WebDriver, Junit, TestNG, and Cucumber. Build management tools including Maven, Gradle, TeamCity, Jenkins, Git, and Bitbucket are also covered. Topics include:

  • Selenium WebDriver

  • TestNG

  • Maven

  • Cucumber

  • Rest Assured (API Testing)

  • Team City and Jenkins (CI/CD)

Phase IV: Resume Development and Interview Preparation

During the fourth and final phase of the program, students are equipped with job hunting and resume development skills specific to the software testing industry, and will become competitive candidates to attract high paying tech jobs at technology companies.
